In 2005, Redzo Bekto founded Bekto Precisa, a company that produces industrial tools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After working in every department of the factory, including the assembly hall, quality control, and administration, his daughter, Enisa Bekto joined the management team. The mother of three, who sees her parents as her role models and mentors, now employs 500 staff, with 80 % of management positions occupied by women.
WEgate: Tell us more about your company
Enisa Bekto: Bekto Precisa is a family owned company with decades of business experience producing highly sophisticated industrial metal parts, industrial tools for plastic and non-ferrous metals, metal-plastic combinations, and mould-injected plastic products widely used in various industries as well as everyday life.
During the last 10 years, Bekto Precisa has become a growing European company, spread over 100 000 square metres, housing over 300 modern machines and employing around 450 employees.
With a fully comprehensive production system, ranging from idea to final product, our company has become a reliable partner for our customers.
We are well known for our professionalism, the quality of our products and our unique management philosophy which believes that every customer is equally important.
Our vision is to offer customers the best possible service and products by establishing an individual approach and paying special attention to their specific requirements and needs.
What or who inspired you to manage the business?
My father. He showed me that success is possible no matter where you are in the world, as long as you have good business ideas and the necessary knowledge. You don’t have to be located in London, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw or New York to fulfil your dreams. Success is all around; we just need to recognise it.
What challenges did you face when you decided to take on this role? Did you have any sort of support from organisations?
The biggest challenge for me was how to develop my knowledge of industrial production. As an only child, I had to take on this management job and I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to successfully run the business that my parents had created and had been working on for years. The best support I received was from my father and my mother.
Entrepreneurship is still often considered a man’s territory; what advice would you give young women who want to become an entrepreneur?
This is a difficult question! Every experience is unique, not general. In my opinion, entrepreneurship is for everybody who has the courage and the necessary knowledge and skills. It doesn’t matter whether you are a man or a woman; the most important thing is to have a relevant business idea.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Success is all around us; we just need to recognise it!
