Protect your inventions – Patent office

You can protect your technical inventions by getting a national patent (valid for a single European Union (EU) country) or a European patent (valid for all EU countries, except Spain, Italy and Croatia). The latter can be requested from the European Patent Office (EPO). Information on the application process for a European patent and the websites of the national agencies responsible for patents in each EU country are available here.

The ‘Your Europe’ portal provides information on the different types of intellectual property: industrial property, artistic work and commercial strategies.

This website is available in all official EU languages
